SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — A former Bexar County jail guard will be spending his next three years seeing jail life from the other side of the bars.
Gabriel Ortiz, 30, was caught along with his colleague, 27-year-old Ruben Hernandez, smuggling methamphetamine to inmates inside the Bexar County jail last year.
The rouse was uncovered by a state and federal investigation.
Ortiz pleaded guilty to the crime in November.
He was sentenced to 3 years in prison.
Hernandez also pleaded guilty to the same crime last month. He faces up to 20 years in federal prison when he’s sentenced in April.
