The Tiger Effect

I forgot how much I enjoyed having Tiger Woods in my life – and at The Masters. 14 months after he nearly lost a leg in a horrific car crash, Tiger is miraculously walking up and down the fairways at Augusta National. Tiger is golfing royalty. He makes the sport more fun to watch. No doubt about it – Tiger Woods is the greatest American athlete we’ve seen since Michael Jordan.
I was worried as to whether Tiger would be able to handle the physicality of the sport – the swing, the walking, the sun. I feared watching Woods pull up lame. Fortunately, the sports world is being treated to the old Tiger that we loved. He lipped out a putt for birdie at the 5th hole and showed an angry scowl. The very next hole, he birdied a par 3 that he nearly made as a hole-in-one. Just like old times!
Many of us didn’t think Tiger would play, much less make the cut. He’s well on his way. The Masters is outshining Baseball’s Opening Day. And, Tiger’s the reason why. Let’s hope we see him in red on Sunday!
